Problem:

The scoring system available currently is too expensive and very heavy to move around. Not everyone can afford to buy the fencing scoring machines.

Solution:

Eliminate the wires by using wireless systems (Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc) that is cheap and can fully function as the wires used currently. Softwares are made so that people can just buy it and load the program into laptop - this will make fencing scoring machines very portable and almost every fencer can own one.

Believe it or not, there are signals everywhere in our life. We might have not realized it. Deep down in the roots of human history, signals have been used significantly over the years for communications. Speech is one of the normal everyday signals. One of the most common long-distanced communication during the historic era is smoke signal which is often used by native Americans.

As the time goes by into the modernization era, more and more signals have been discovered which includes musics, pictures and videos.

1. Speech

Speech is a 1-dimensional signal which means that it is a function of single variable. It is a perfect example of air pressure as a function of time in space.

2. Music

Music is also an example of air pressure as a function of time at a point in space.

Wireless communications has a long history and also a very promising future and has been known to have different versions in different countries. As an example of a wireless communications is the Television remote control that everyone uses in their homes nowadays. Cellular phone is also a good example of wireless communications that we can see everywhere. In more complex cases, wireless communications is used for exchanging information between earth stations and space probes operating near or on distant planets.
